Online medical certificate NZ

Request an online medical certificate in NZ

If a minor illness is keeping you away from work, school or study, answer focused questions online. A registered New Zealand clinician reviews your request and decides whether a short medical certificate is appropriate.

How the online certificate request works

  1. Check the pathway. Confirm that you need a short certificate for work, school or study and that the request is suitable for online care.
  2. Tell Quinn what is happening. Quinn gathers the relevant history and certificate dates for the reviewing clinician.
  3. A clinician decides. A registered NZ clinician reviews the complete request. A certificate is issued only when clinically appropriate.
  4. Receive your document. If approved, the certificate is emailed to you and saved in your Quindlee account.

What this pathway is for

The current Quindlee pathway is designed for short medical certificates related to a minor illness affecting your ability to work, attend school or study. It is not a guaranteed certificate service: the clinician may ask for more information, redirect you to in-person care, or decline the request when a remote assessment is not appropriate.

Different document needed? ACC injury certificates, WINZ assessments and fitness-to-drive documents need a different assessment and are not covered by this short-certificate pathway.

Common questions

Can I get a same-day medical certificate online?

Quindlee shows the current review time before you start. Timing depends on clinician availability and whether more information or an in-person assessment is needed. A certificate cannot be guaranteed.

Is the certificate issued by AI?

No. Quinn gathers and organises your information. A registered New Zealand clinician makes the decision and issues any approved certificate.

What does it cost?

Active WeCare Members pay $0 for approved consultations submitted before 1 December 2026. The standard Quindlee price is $29.90, charged only when care is approved. Checking whether the pathway fits is free.

What if I also need treatment?

Tell Quinn what symptoms you have and what help you need. The clinician reviews the request as a healthcare consultation, not simply as a document order.

Clinical governance: Dr John Ko, FRNZCGP, Clinical Director. The reviewing clinician remains responsible for the individual certificate decision.

Quindlee provides non-urgent clinician-reviewed online care in New Zealand. It does not replace emergency or examination-dependent care. Call 111 for an emergency.
